Bullshit! I’d be disappointed if a father in that position wouldn’t pardon him. I say good for him, he did the right thing.

With the highest respect, America has made its preferences loud and clear in this last election. The sector of America that will respect Biden for taking the high ground and “returning respectability to office” proved to be illusory. Biden refraining from the pardon would accomplish absolutely nothing of consequence. In light of that, he’d be in dereliction not to

Thanks for chiming in, Jay! Trump sucks. And I really wish Americans didn't vote for him. No doubt about that. I also agree that number of Americans who care about this issue is negligible. However, I still believe taking the high ground matters for the principle of justice. Let’s keep the conversation going—I value your input.

I believe in law and order; however, I disagree with you because I don't believe that you sacrifice your family for political norms and taking the high ground.

I think that Biden is using sympathy for his family to blind a great many to the reality that, were Hunter not his son, and there are many other nonviolent offenders out there on death row for such or even lighter offenses than Hunter has— it might be unpopular, but I remain skeptical of Joe’s actions here, unless he does so for others he can with a stroke of his commute sentences for with nonviolent offenses just like Hunter he has NOT done so for thus far.

For political norms, no, but by normalizing Trump’s corruption and then saying it’s okay to do so because Trump and his staff are worse does not make Biden look good in the long haul- his love for his son is understandable, but if he does not commute others’ sentences just like his son’s, then it will be a clear double standard on Joe’s part- we’ll see.

45 soon to be 47 has been normalized by elected him President in the first place even though he is a felon. So if Biden wants to protect his son from this poor excuse of human being then so be it. As someone who is a moderate conservative we never hold the GOP to same standards a Democrats and I wish people would just stop thinking that Democrats need to fight with one hand tied behind their backs.

We always do, by becoming GOP lite we lose the high ground period.

There is no high fighting with one hand tied behind your back. The high ground is fighting with all of tools available.

Loud and clear, by 1.5% I think not!

Half of America threw away their love of justice and morals and elected a lying rapist, racist, con man, convicted criminal to to the White House. Biden needs to protect his son from further legal harassment.

My thoughts as well!

I disagree! For eight years, Hunter and his whole family have been tortured in public about his actions and problems. And my part of the public air space says, “Enough is enough!” President Biden is correct; this spotlight and rhetoric on Hunter has been politically motivated.

Facing four years of unbelievable actions by the next president and his lieutenants, Hunter’s life needs to return to private status. AND there is no telling what Trump, his new AG, or his new FBI head would attempt to do to Hunter in the promised focus on retribution. Truly, enough is enough!

I respectfully disagree. Given the jackals that are coming in, I would be disappointed if he didn’t pardon his son. This case was nothing more than a witch hunt.

How absurd!! Biden has done sooo much for this country. He has not made a mockery out of our justice system as Trump has, Trump who pardoned true dangerous criminals. He pardon his son who probably would have pleaded down his conviction and gotten off with out having a felony conviction. I say it would have been a sin not to pardon him.

I really disagree with this position. There has to be a way to counter those who break all the norms and laws. Would you rather he sacrifice his son when there would be no quarter given to either of them? We are still grappling with how to resist all this evilness. I DO know that it is total complicity to just lie down and let them gut you.

I disagree this was father’s love over justice. If you watched From Russia with Sev, you would conclude hunter would have been granted the first plea deal, situation normal justice. But what that documentary pointed out is within the FBI, Giuliani had contacts who agreed to pursue a politically motivated charge.

Biden knows Patel will put this kind of weaponized FBI to punish His family. He acted yo prevent that.

Completely disagree. If we lived in a Utopian society, perhaps I'd agree. But we don't and therefore he needs to play by the rules everyone else is using. The newly nominated ambassador to France was disbarred and imprisoned but was pardoned by Trump and now able to hold a rather important position in the new administration. Why shouldn't he pardon his son?

Exactly--and I think the appointment was a direct slap in the face to Chris Christie who prosecuted Kushner and who had come out against Trump in this last election. It was Trump's middle finger to Christie.

Compared to Trump, Biden’s integrity is beyond question. Please. He absolutely should pardon his son. There will be no integrity in the Presidential office for years to come, if ever.

You are full of shit. This country just elected a rapist and convicted felon. We are no longer a country of laws. The maga morons have ended our democratic republic.

Give me a fucking break. Glad he pardoned him. Why don’t you write about something that actually matters, like Trump destroying everything, including the dignity of the office, trust of the people, and our country.

How is this different thank Trump’s pardon of his daughter’s father-in-law, for his tax evasion conviction. in fact why not appoint Hunter and Ambassador of France for the next fifty days!

This is the most absurd thing I’ve read since the latest cabinet pick of Trumps. 1/2 of America obviously don’t care about honesty, integrity, or justice. They will only care about this because it’s Biden’s SON. Mind you, NOT even the president! But who cares when the president elect is the most hateful, vile, divisive, and immoral person to EVER take the oath of office. It doesn’t seem to matter that he ran and now gets to have all of his criminal trials permanently delayed and his sentencing delayed or withdrawn! Where is the integrity with that? I know that we normally don’t try presidents in office, but this is uncharted territory and with the degree of criminality that he is accused of, I feel it should’ve gone to trial to satisfy the results either way, whether he be found innocent or guilty, it would put it completely to rest. Joe Biden has done nothing but behaved in the most presidential way, whether you agree with his policies or not, in the last four years. By all accounts, the economy is the best it’s been in 50 years and so far, the holiday shopping season is off to a record start. So, for a father to pardon his son to get him out of the legal system before Trump, who seems to target Hunter and any Democrat, gets sworn into office, is completely expected and warranted. I wouldn’t expect anything less of a good father. Look at the people and the crimes that Trump has pardoned? I mean, get real with this story. It’s total bullshit!

It would have been a grave mistake not to have done this. About time he’s showing some balls. Hope he takes the next several weeks to fuck integrity right out the door.
